Hello everybody, with this making of I want give you a rough overview about my project.
At first, I searched many references and I also watched Matrix movies again to get a feeling what a sentinel looks like, but the first problem was that there are many different versions.
The modelling was going on well. I’ve started with the eyes and continued with the body and the tentacles. the most parts are made of primitives.
After the modelling I placed the sentinel in a position which shows that he was ready to attack. It should have a minatory look. For the lighting I used one spotlight and three omnilights around my model.
I took some pretty and simple textures from the site „cgtextures.com” and made them procedural.
This was the original render, the next step was some postproduction to make this look more interesting.
I used over sixteen layers with different adjustments like brightness, contrast, saturation and hue. Here are some of the most important layers. The background was just a random texture with some contrast correction and render- lighting effects filter. To achieve this glow effect you should go to select- colour range and then use the Gaussian blur filter. I’ve also done this with the eyes of the sentinel.
The Ambient Occlusion layer is very important to give your image more depth.
